Brooklyn Hermes | The Kindness of a Nurse
As a child, Brooklyn Hermes endured serious illness and many surgeries. She remembers a special nurse who made her laugh during the worst times. "Her simple acts of kindness made me so happy," Brooklyn says. "My main goal in life right now is to be as influential to others as she was to me. This is the reason I want to be a nurse." Brooklyn currently works as a Patient Care Technician at Memorial Medical Center. "Working and attending school can be a challenge," she admits, "but I know I will succeed due to all the wonderful support and encouragement I have received, including my scholarships. I am so thankful."
This year, Brooklyn received the Martha Scheibel Harrison Scholarship, the Karen Hasara Scholarship, the Marilyn Schnirring Kennedy Scholarship, and the Gary E. and Janice M. Spears Endowed Scholarship.
Scholarships…because they affirm the aspirations of students.
